Recognition of ICT Excellence: President Lai Congratulates 2025 Information Month Award Recipients

On the morning of March 2nd, President Lai Ching-te convened with the recipients of the 2025 Information Month Outstanding ICT Elite Award at the Presidential Office. During this event, he expressed the government’s commitment to collaborating with various sectors to foster a more innovative, resilient, and trustworthy digital nation.

The Outstanding ICT Elite Award celebrates exceptional talent across diverse fields within the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, including satellite technology, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. President Lai congratulated the ten esteemed recipients, taking the opportunity to acknowledge their individual contributions to their respective areas of expertise.

In his remarks, the President highlighted the notable advancements in digital governance across multiple industries and the seamless integration of technology into everyday life. He emphasised that the collective efforts of the awardees have significantly strengthened Taiwan’s position, allowing the nation to navigate the global wave of digital transformation effectively.

Furthermore, President Lai introduced the government’s Ten AI Initiatives Promotion Plan, which aims to cultivate 500,000 talents in AI applications by the year 2040, targeting an output value of NT$15 trillion (approximately USD 476 billion). In tandem with this initiative, the government plans to invest actively in research and development of key technologies, including silicon photonics, quantum technology, and robotics.

He expressed optimism about collaborating with industry experts to enhance computing infrastructure and develop smart ecosystems, acknowledging the invaluable contributions of the award recipients in bolstering Taiwan’s innovative trajectory.

President Lai remarked, “Each of you, as award recipients, has been a vital driving force in Taiwan’s industrial development. I hope your influence will extend to your teams and organisations, inspiring more young people to enter critical technology fields and generate a continuous stream of innovative momentum.”

He concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to ongoing collaboration with partners across all sectors, aiming to build a more innovative and resilient digital nation that showcases Taiwan’s technological strength and talent to the world.
