Mahindra University has announced that Dr Bishnu Pal, Professor and Dean of the Ecole Centrale School of Engineering, has been awarded the prestigious 2026 Sang Soo Lee Award by Optica, previously known as The Optical Society.
Dr Pal is among 22 distinguished scientists and leaders globally honoured in Optica’s 2026 awards cycle. Presented in even-numbered years, the award commemorates the pioneering efforts of Prof. Sang Soo Lee in establishing optics in the Republic of Korea. It recognises leadership in research, education, the introduction of new subfields, or the initiation of optics and photonics industries.
