HPU Assistant Professor to Embark on Academic Fellowship in Japan

In a significant step towards international collaboration in the fields of photonics and artificial intelligence, Tarun Sharma, an Assistant Professor at the University Institute of Technology (UIT) of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), has been extended an invitation to serve as a visiting professor at several prestigious universities in Japan.

During his month-long visit, Sharma will engage with faculty and researchers at Osaka Metropolitan University, Osaka University, and Kyoto University, participating in a variety of academic and research activities.

The primary objective of this programme is to enhance academic excellence, foster research collaborations, and promote cultural exchange between India and Japan. This initiative is facilitated by a fellowship funded by the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cultural Exchange Foundation, which covers all associated expenses.

Sharma’s research will concentrate on cutting-edge topics such as silicon photonics, AI-driven photonics, chip-based devices, and quantum photonics. The initiative is anticipated to strengthen institutional relationships and encourage further research opportunities.

For those interested in similar international collaborations, several funding opportunities are available through various educational and cultural exchange foundations, which can be explored further.
