1Finity, a subsidiary of Fujitsu and a prominent provider of global network solutions, has announced the introduction of its Ultra Optical System L1000/L2000 Optical Line System (OLS) platform. This innovative platform is designed to meet the evolving networking requirements of the AI era and is set to be available in the Fall of this year.
The L1000/L2000 serves as a performance-optimised, open global platform that offers core optical infrastructure tailored for hyperscalers and cloud providers. Additionally, it enables service providers to deliver high-capacity managed optical services to their clientele. This dual functionality is pivotal in ensuring high-capacity, peak performance, and dependable scalability for Data Centre Interconnect (DCI), metropolitan, and long-haul transport applications.
To effectively address the demands of AI services, communication service providers, hyperscalers, and cloud providers must implement line systems that are optimised for 800G and beyond. The L1000/L2000 stands out as a next-generation platform, ingeniously designed with an optimised Direct Attach (DA) architecture that not only facilitates high-capacity service transmission but also allows for rapid scaling while minimising power consumption and physical space requirements.
Available in a range of shelf sizes with both AC and DC power options, the system provides unparalleled flexibility suitable for diverse operating environments. This platform guarantees reliable speeds of 800G and higher, significantly reducing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Its future-proof design incorporates Multi-Rail transmission capabilities, thus enhancing long-term efficiency in terms of power and space.
Designed for seamless multi-vendor operation, the L1000/L2000 OLS platform mitigates vendor lock-in and hidden costs. Its adaptable, compact, modular structure scales from 1 to 16 degrees across continuous C+L bands. The integration of an open Wavelength Selective Switch (WSS) facilitates smooth operation for Reconfigurable Optical Add-Drop Multiplexers (ROADMs), resulting in considerable cost savings and increased choices in network elements. This is achieved by utilising modular building blocks for DCI, metro, and long-haul networks.
The L1000/L2000 OLS platform also employs advanced automation technologies to ensure proactive fibre maintenance, streamline commissioning, and simplify management tasks. It effectively achieves glitch-free wavelength scaling across C+L bands. Furthermore, integrated tools support fibre connectivity verification, optimised wavelength design and planning, and comprehensive diagnostics for proactive maintenance, ensuring swift resolution of fibre-related issues.
Hideki Matsui, Senior Vice President and Head of Photonics System Business Unit at 1Finity Inc., remarked, “The Ultra Optical System L1000/L2000 OLS empowers communication service providers, hyperscalers, and cloud providers to reliably deliver optimised, managed fibre services and core optical infrastructure from a single, compact design that is adaptable to any setting. By providing open, performance-optimised, and reliable connectivity, this next-generation optical line system lays a scalable foundation for addressing the dynamic demands of evolving networks, thereby supporting growth into the AI era and beyond.”
This innovative platform will be showcased at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2026, scheduled for March 2-5, as well as at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC) 2026, taking place from March 15-19 in Los Angeles.
The L1000/L2000 is part of a national initiative focused on advanced ROADM-based optical networking, with research findings derived from commissioned research (No.JPJ012368C09001) conducted by the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) in Japan.
