Dear voters of Wilmington,
It is with great enthusiasm that I encourage you to support the re-election of Jennifer Bryson and Michael Mercaldi to our school committee.
Over the past two years, I have had the opportunity to collaborate closely with both Jennifer and Michael on the committee. Their dedication and contributions have been evident during numerous meetings and decision-making processes. They have played a pivotal role in significant developments, including the hiring of two new superintendents and the management of four distinct contract negotiations last year. Their efforts have been crucial in advancing the committee’s mission to support our students, faculty, and staff.
Jennifer brings a wealth of experience as a classroom teacher and currently serves as a professor of elementary education. This unique perspective has proven invaluable to our committee and district. She consistently ensures that discussions remain grounded in the real-life challenges faced by students, teachers, and families. As the longest-serving member of the committee, her insights regarding the historical context and future direction of Wilmington schools have been foundational to our initiatives.
On the other hand, Michael’s extensive experience as a biotech executive provides a complementary skill set that greatly benefits the committee and the district. He adeptly identifies key issues during meetings, focusing on both potential risks and opportunities. Michael’s ability to incorporate community perspectives into our discussions is particularly noteworthy; he brings forward questions that resonate with parents, fostering a more engaged and responsive leadership approach.
Together, they have made significant strides in the hiring of our superintendents. Michael’s expertise in private sector recruitment has enriched our screening and selection processes, while Jennifer’s previous experience in hiring superintendents within the district has empowered her to take a leadership role in these recent initiatives.
Additionally, I had the privilege of serving alongside both Jennifer and Michael on our contract negotiation teams last year. Their commitment to balancing the needs of our educators with the district’s financial health resulted in what I believe are strong agreements. Their collaborative spirit and dedication to finding common ground have been instrumental in this regard.
Jennifer and Michael have consistently demonstrated exemplary leadership as members of the Wilmington School Committee. Their contributions are vital for the ongoing improvement of our school district. I urge you to cast your vote in favour of Jennifer Bryson and Michael Mercaldi during the upcoming election on April 25th, 2026.
Sincerely,
Nick Golden
