The Watumull Institute of Engineering and Technology recently organised a national hackathon competition titled ‘HackVerse 2.0’ on March 13 and 14. This intensive 24-hour event invited young developers from across the country to devise innovative solutions addressing real-world challenges.

A total of 202 teams from Maharashtra and other states registered for the event. Following a rigorous screening process, 164 teams were selected for the initial round, with 49 teams advancing to the final round to present their projects to the judges.

Adding to the significance of the occasion, Mr. Niranjan Hiranandani, President of the Hyderabad Sind National Collegiate Board, visited the campus to engage with the participants. He observed the innovative ideas being developed during the hackathon.

Winners Announced

The competition culminated in the announcement of the winners. Team Game of Codes from Xavier Institute of Engineering, Mahim, Mumbai, secured the first prize. The second prize was awarded to Team CodeBusters from WIET, Ulhasnagar, while Team AI Bytes from D. J. Sanghvi College of Engineering, Vile Parle, Mumbai, claimed the third position.

In addition, special category awards were also presented. Team VisionX4 from Shah and Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College (SAKEC), Mumbai, received the Best UI/UX Award, and Team Photons from Sinhgad College of Engineering (SCOE), Pune, was recognised for the Most Innovative Idea Award.

Prof. Avinash Gondal, In-Charge Principal of WIET, commented on the initiative, stating that the primary objective of such events is to provide students with a platform to apply their classroom knowledge to solve practical problems. He emphasised, “With initiatives like ‘HackVerse 2.0,’ we encourage students to work on real-life issues and create solutions that can lead to significant societal impact.”
