## Common *questions.*

### What is Trusted Research?+

Trusted Research is the framework used in the UK research sector to identify and manage the security, integrity and partnership risks that come with modern research activity. It draws on guidance from UKRI, NPSA and the National Cyber Security Centre, covering intellectual property protection, dual-use considerations and international collaboration risk.

### What does UKRI expect universities to do on Trusted Research?+

UKRI publishes a set of principles and expectations for Trusted Research and Innovation, asking grant-holding institutions to embed risk assessment, due diligence and training into their research management. Our course is designed to meet that training expectation as an off-the-shelf module a research office can commission rather than build internally.

### Is this the same as research integrity or research ethics training?+

No. Research integrity training focuses on responsible conduct of research, including authorship, data handling and reporting. Trusted Research focuses on protecting research from external risks, particularly security and partnership risks. The two are complementary.
