Who we work with inside universities.

Research offices, faculty leadership, individual departments and research institutes all commission ORBIT directly. Our most common entry points are the offices coordinating research integrity, public engagement, partnerships and EDI, plus the heads of department building training programmes for early career researchers and academic staff.

We also work with university leadership running institution-wide professional development for academics, particularly where the university is responding to UKRI's responsible innovation expectations, sustainability commitments, or the rising profile of trustworthy AI and responsible AI in research culture.

How training scales.

Universities commission ORBIT at four typical scales. We tailor the format to the team in the room:

01

Department-level workshop

A focused workshop for a single school, faculty or research centre. The most frequent format.

02

Research office training

Sessions for the staff who manage research integrity, ethics, partnerships and reporting.

03

Cross-institutional rollouts

Longer programmes across a faculty or the institution, coordinated with researcher development and HR.

04

Leadership briefings

Shorter sessions for heads of department, deans and research-strategic leadership.

Why universities work with us.

ORBIT is a UK not-for-profit born of an EPSRC-funded research programme, with working relationships across more than 25 UK universities and Member institutions at De Montfort University and the University of Oxford. We are independent, cross-disciplinary, and built for the research sector, not adjacent to it.

Our material maps directly onto current UKRI and EPSRC expectations for responsible innovation, sustainability and research integrity. Free open material (the AREA 4P framework guide, RRI Maturity tool, self-assessment instruments) lets your staff and students keep working with the same framework between sessions.

Pricing reflects delivery cost rather than commercial margin. Most institutional engagements sit within standard university training budgets, with a written quote provided within a few working days of an initial conversation.
