Responsible innovation training for teams building and deploying technology.
The EU AI Act now puts a legal duty on organisations to train their people. We help you meet it properly, and go further: the same responsible-innovation method that UK research councils trust, brought to the teams shipping real products. Bespoke, group-based, online or in person.
Why industry works with us.
Responsible innovation used to be a research-council concern. It is now a board-level one. Since February 2025 the EU AI Act has required organisations to ensure their people are AI-literate, procurement questionnaires increasingly ask for governance proof, and reputational risk lands on whoever shipped the thing. We help you get ahead of all three.
- 01Built to meet the EU AI Act Article 4 AI literacy duty, which has been live since February 2025 and explicitly is not satisfied by a single generic module.
- 02Aligned with the standards your buyers and auditors recognise: ISO 42001 for AI management and PAS 440 for responsible innovation, the BSI standard we already teach.
- 03A real method, not box-ticking. We are built on the EPSRC AREA framework, so your teams leave with a way of working, not a certificate they forget.
- 04Genuine academic authority. Our people are recognised figures in responsible innovation and responsible AI, not generalists reading from someone else's slides.
- 05A not-for-profit you can trust. We have no upsell and no licence fees; surplus funds the free tools and courses we publish for everyone.
- 06Delivery that fits how you work: in person, online via access codes, or hybrid, scoped to your sector and your live products.
What you can commission.
Every engagement is scoped to your organisation, your sector and the systems your people actually work with. Four common starting points:
EU AI Act literacy programme
Role-specific AI literacy training that meets the Article 4 duty, with a written record you can keep as evidence. See the detail.
Responsible AI governance
Training to support an ISO 42001 or PAS 440 alignment: anticipation, oversight, accountability and the documentation that proves it.
Responsible innovation for R&D
The AREA framework applied to your product and research pipeline, so responsible thinking happens while there is still room to change course.
Board and leadership briefing
A focused session for executives and product leaders on what the duty means, what good looks like, and where your real exposure sits.

Does this satisfy the EU AI Act Article 4 AI literacy duty?
It is built to. Article 4 has required, since February 2025, that organisations ensure staff have a sufficient, role-specific level of AI literacy, and a single generic module explicitly does not satisfy it. We scope training to the actual roles, systems and context in your organisation, and give you a written record to keep as evidence. The dedicated EU AI Act training page goes into the detail.
How is this different from a Big Four consultancy or an open online course?
We are a not-for-profit built out of an EPSRC research programme, with genuine academic authority in responsible innovation rather than a generic compliance deck. The training is bespoke to your team, grounded in the AREA framework, and priced to reflect delivery cost rather than commercial margin. You get a method your teams keep using, not a slide pack.
Can you deliver online for distributed teams?
Yes. We deliver in person, online via our access-code course portal, or as a hybrid. Your team works through the same material and exercises together wherever they are, and the online route carries the same AREA framing as the room.
Which sectors do you work with?
Any organisation building or deploying technology where the consequences are uncertain. In practice that means AI and software firms, biotech and pharma, quantum, finance, defence and the public sector. The AI literacy duty applies regardless of sector, and the AREA method is technology-neutral by design.
How is industry training priced?
Fees depend on group size, format and the degree of tailoring. We are a UK not-for-profit, so pricing reflects delivery cost rather than commercial margin, and any surplus funds the free open resources we publish. We send a written quote within a few working days of a first conversation, with no obligation to proceed.
Get ahead of the duty, not caught by it.
Tell us what your teams build and where your exposure sits. We reply within one working day with a suggested fit and a fixed quote.
